Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa.
Old vineyards located between 300-600m above sea level are grown on a mixture of clay and volcanic soils with limited yields allowing for the production of outstanding wines with incredible food matching potential.
This lovely wine is made by leaving the Nero d’Avola grapes on the vine for longer than usual to let them over ripen. They are then fermented in stainless steel, and fermentation is stopped before all the sugar has been converted to alcohol. The overall effect is of a rich, warm, full bodied ‘Amarone’ style of wine.
There is bright intense red fruit on the nose displaying lots of red berries. The palate is warm and full-bodied with harmonious acidity and smooth and elegant tannins. There is no oak treatment on this wine, so the fruit element shines through.
Excellent value for money.
